Matcha Tea is more than just a drink—it’s a ritual, a tradition, and a vibrant source of mindful energy. Originating in Japan, matcha is freshly grown tea leaves that have been freshly harvested, processed and ground into a fine powder. Unlike steeped teas, matcha offers complete tea leaf consumption giving a more concentrated source of nutrients, antioxidants, and flavor. The result is a rich, earthy flavor with a creamy finish and a striking jade green hue.

The beauty of Matcha Tea lies in the intentional process and the mindful preparation it encourages. Unlike other teas, matcha is whisked, not steeped. A small amount of powder is combined with hot water and whisked using a bamboo whisk until it becomes frothy. The experience is grounding, calming, and sensory—an invitation to slow down and be present, even if just for a moment.

Its flavor is what we describe as umami, a savory and pleasant whole mouth flavor that is satisfying with a subtle sweetness and earthy cream-like taste. Beyond its unique flavor and tradition, matcha is also prized for its health benefits. Because you’re consuming the entire tea leaf, matcha delivers significantly higher levels of antioxidants than regular green tea—particularly EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which has been linked to improved heart health, metabolism support, and cellular protection. It also provides a balanced energy boost, thanks to the synergy between caffeine and L-theanine. The result is a sustained alertness without the jitters or a crash often associated with coffee.

How to Prepare Matcha:

  1. Use ½ to 1 teaspoon of matcha powder tea
  2. Sift or ground into a fine powder
  3. Add a small amount of warm water, approx 175ºF
  4. Whisk briskly then add remaining water to reach 7-8 oz
  5. Sip and savor
  6. Option: Add a touch of honey or vanilla as a perfect accompaniment

Matcha Tea is a versatile companion as part of a morning ritual or afternoon latte. It can be enjoyed hot, iced, blended, or infused into culinary creations, offering both flavor and function. Matcha is a celebration of balance—between calm and energy, earthiness and elegance, tradition and modern wellness. Every sip is a reminder to slow down and enjoy the richness of the present moment.
